TIPTON, Ind. (AP) - Getrag Transmission Manufacturing says it filed for Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection for its Tipton, Ind., facility.
The facility was being built for the sole purpose of making
dual clutch transmissions for Chrysler LLC.
But Chrysler recently terminated deals related to the
construction and operation of the facility. That forced the German
manufacturer's unit to stop its operations in Tipton and
cancel the project.
The company says the filing will allow it to deal with
claims related to the project in an orderly and equitable fashion.
Getrag Transmission Manufacturing only includes the Tipton
facility and the filing does not affect the other Getrag operations
in the United States.
