KOKOMO, IN.(WISH) - There are some parents in Kokomo who are up in arms about how their children are transported to school.

One couple who said their 5 and 7-year old sons were left on a bus for more than 2 hours on the first day of school.

"I want to make sure my kids are safe and make sure  we know our kids are going to be safe,” said Jerry Jordan

It’s a question the Jordan family can't get answered.   Why were their sons left on a Kokomo Center School bus for over 2 hours?

"My oldest son was on the bus from 3:45 to almost 6 o’clock.

"When we called transportation to find out where our kids was, one of the ladies from transportation told us its not our problem,” said Jordan.

We took their concerns to David Barnes who is with Kokomo schools.

“We had some numbers transposed. I apologized. Transportation apologized. We called those people. It was a mistake plain and simple.,” said Barnes.

Barnes says the problem has been fixed.

He says the children were safe and never unsupervised.

He says this is the first year the district has used a shuttle system from the children's school to another school, and then home.
