ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (WISH) - A 17-year-old died of injuries suffered in a Thursday afternoon single-vehicle crash in Alexandria that sent three teens to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, The Herald Bulletin reports.

The teens were injured when the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt they were riding in left the roadway and struck a tree along Madison County Road 100 West.

The most seriously injured was 17-year-old Darian Hurn who was riding in the front passenger seat. Deputies told the newspaper Hurn was in extremely critical condition after suffering head and internal injuries. He was flown to the hospital from the scene of the crash. He later died of his injuries.

Zoe Mack, 16, was first taken to a local hospital but was later flown to Indianapolis.

Driver Paul Coy, 19, and passenger Alexis Kerns, 16, were also treated for injuries.

Deputies say the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. They say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash but it appeared Coy was driving at an excessive speed.
