ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - An Attica teacher was fired for allegedly slapping a student.

According to Attica Consolidated School Corporation Superintendent Derek Marshall, the school board held a special school board meeting Monday to determine the future of Gail Marie Huff after allegations of misconduct.

Huff is a special education teacher at Attica Elementary School.

The school board voted unanimously to cancel Huff's contract.

According to Huff, a student was created a disruption by spitting in her classroom.

After trying several times to get the student to stop, Huff says she put her fingers to the student's lips to communicate both verbally and physically that spitting was wrong.

Huff says, a few days later, the principal told her she was accused of slapping the student.

"I'm innocent," Huff said. "Child Protective Services investigated, they found the case to be unsubstantiated. But, for some reason the school board has decided that they find me guilty, even though CPS is the one to investigate child abuse cases and they found me innocent."
