Audit faults Clinton Prairie schools bookkeeping

FRANKFORT, Ind. (WISH) - The superintendent of Clinton Prairie Schools is facing criticism tonight for some expenses uncovered by a state audit.

The State Board of Accounts found a lack of control over money, issues with travel claims, credit card use without receipts, even a limo ride school board members took around the city of San Francisco.

The report goes on to say that limo ride was an unnecessary expense, paid for by taxpayers.

School Board President Tim Snyder said it was his understanding Superintendent Charles Fink was picking up the tab for that ride.

“The board members that rode in the limousine were all under the understanding that Mr. Fink, our superintendent, was paying for that personally,” Snyder said. “And we didn't question that because that was how it was presented and that was our understanding. We were surprised as well when that was charged back to the school.”

Superintendent Fink declined to comment on the report.

Some of the charges are reportedly being reimbursed to taxpayers.

Mr. Fink is set to retire at the end of the school year.
