KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - Police have confirmed the body found in a freezer in the basement of a Kokomo home, police said, is that of a man missing since early November. A man has been charged with murder.

The discovery came during investigation into the whereabouts of Alex Shipp, 29, who had been reported missing Saturday. His mother told police she hadn’t heard from him since Nov. 8.

Then, on Sunday, Kokomo Police Department received information that Shipp was possibly dead and had last been seen at a home in the 800 block of East Elm Street. Investigators then found the body in a freezer in the home’s basement.

Walter Logan, 51, was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder.

According to court documents, Shipp and Logan were involved in a sexual relationship. Logan told police things got violent between the two after a night of drugs, alcohol and sex.

The two got in a fight. Logan tied up Shipp's hands, legs, mouth and nose with duct tape, documents said. The 51-year-old told investigators when he woke up Shipp was dead. Logan told police he picked up the 29-year-old's body and stuffed him in an unplugged freezer.

It's believed Shipp was in the freezer for several weeks, according to police.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine identity of the deceased and cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information should call Det. Michael Banush, 765-456-7278, the Kokomo Police Hotline, 765-456-7017, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
