LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) - A body that was recovered from the South Fork of the Wildcat Creek just east of Lafayette has been identified, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
A person canoeing down the creek Friday found the remains near where Tippecanoe County Road 100 North intersects the creek and called emergency officers at about 12:45 p.m. Friday, DNR said.
DNR search and rescue drivers recovered the body from the middle of the creek.
An autopsy was performed Saturday and the body was determined to be Kerry Dunsmore.
Dunsmore was reported missing January 26th and was thought to be in the area of the Wildcat Creek by the Monitor Bridge, according to police.
Police reports state that officers from multiple agencies scoured the area on land and in the Wildcat Creek looking for any evidence that may help the case, but the search was suspended on February 1st due to swift water conditions.
