Bomb Team called for suspicious device

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious device just north of Anderson City shortly after 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The device was found on Alexandria Pike, north of County Road 360 North.

The Madison County EMA was called to assist with road closures in the area.

Alexandria Pike was closed to all traffic at 360 N, 400 N and 500 N. 400 N is closed for traffic at Alexandria Pike.

The device is being investigated by the Delaware County Bomb Team.

Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson asked that the public keep clear of the area until the investigation is complete.

Some residents in the area have left their homes.

The Madison County EMA announced over Twitter at 5:30 p.m. that the scene had been cleared.

The device was inspected by the Delaware County Bomb Team. They team was able to neutralize the device with special equipment.

The device was rendered safe and was turned over to officers from the Madison County Sheriff's Department. No other items of interest were found but the investigation on the device is ongoing.
