BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - The Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Boone County Traffic Safety teamed up Saturday to sponsor a free car seat clinic.
Technicians at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office checked residents’ existing car seats for proper placement and installation, according to a release.
The office also had some free car seats for those who qualified.
According to Safe Kids, 85 percent of all car seats are installed incorrectly.
Technicians at the Sheriff’s Office are all certified by Indiana Safe Kids.
Proper installation can reduce a child’s risk of injury in a motor vehicle collision by up to 70 percent, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
