PERU, Ind. (WISH) - A 53-year-old semi driver from Brownsburg was killed Thursday morning in a four vehicle crash in Miami County.
The crash occurred around 11:40am near the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 218. According to state police, Michael Natterstad, was driving a semi southbound on U.S. 31 when he rear-ended a box truck that had slowed for a red light at State Road 218. The impact of the crash caused the box truck to strike two other vehicles.
Natterstad, of Brownsburg, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries. Two other people involved in the crash were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
State police say that everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, which they believe helped reduce the severity of the injuries in the crash.
Southbound U.S. 31 was closed for approximately four-and-a-half hours as investigators recreated the crash and cleaned up the scene.
