MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police are investigating the theft of several thousand dollars taken from a safe at the Delaware County Fairgrounds during last summer's county fair.

The Star Press reports SIla State Police are working with county prosecutors and have administered polygraph tests on a handful of people with access to the safe.

Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold said Wednesday he's spoken to State Police on numerous occasions and their probe is nearly complete. Arnold says he believes the amount missing from the safe is "several thousand" dollars.

County Commissioner Larry Bledsoe says it's his understanding that more than $4,000 went missing from the safe.

He says three people were authorized at the time of last summer's county fair to have the combination to the safe in the fairgrounds office.
