Child dies after being shot near Ossian

WELLS COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A 4-year-old boy was shot Friday night just outside Ossian in rural Wells County.

Police were called to 3936 E 900 North on a report of a shooting around 11:07 p.m.

The Wells County Sheriff's Department says Jacob Michuda, 4, was fishing with his father and his father's friends.

That's when he was shot by a neighbor, Bruce Pond, 46.

Michuda was taken to Lutheran Hospital where he later died.

Pond was arrested for Reckless Homicide.
 

PREVIOUS STORY:

A young child was shot Friday night just outside Ossian in rural Wells County and later died at Lutheran Hospital.

According to the Wells County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened around 11:07 p.m.

Police are not sure exactly how it happened but they do know the child was under adult supervision at the time.

The sheriff’s department would not release any details about where the shooting happened before being sure the family had been notified and to preserve evidence at the scene.

More details are expected to be released later Saturday. This story will be updated once they are available.
