KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - Kokomo Council members are expected to meet Monday to discuss regulation of the city's strip clubs. At one point, Kokomo had the most strip clubs per capita in Indiana.
One council member says he would like to have all of the strip clubs gone and believes others on the council share the same opinion.
According to our partners at the Kokomo Tribune , Councilwoman Cindy Sanders feels licensing could help reduce the amount of human trafficking going on at strip clubs. Although some council members say they have never seen human trafficking at the strip clubs.
In December, Kokomo's mayor Greg Goodnight said, "Anything we can do to improve that image, whether it be investment in parks and thoroughfares and education attainment level and also cleaning up anything that we think tarnishes that image, I'm going to at least hear out. And if you make a good case, we'll proceed."
Officials say licenses must be granted promptly and must allow court appeals of license denials.
