WARREN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A roll over accident in Warren County Saturday morning leaves an Illinois woman dead.

Indiana State Police at Lafayette said they were dispatched to US 136 near County Road 900 west in Warren County, for a one vehicle crash around 8:20 Saturday morning.

According to Indiana State Police Trooper Josh Edwards, a 2004 gold Kia Optima was traveling westbound on US 136 when the driver, 48-year-old Lisa Baldwin from Danville, Illinois, left the road on the right side.

Troopers said she over corrected to the left, went across the highway, struck the ditch on the south side of the roadway, and started to roll. As the Kia was rolling, Baldwin was ejected from the vehicle.

Troopers said the Kia continued to roll and came to rest on its wheels on top of Baldwin.  She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fountain County Coroner.

According to troopers, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.  A seatbelt does not appear to have been used at the time of the crash.

“Wearing a seatbelt keeps you inside of the vehicle,” said Trooper Edwards. “It is usually the safest place to be in a crash.”

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, Perrysville Fire and Rescue and Covington Fire and Rescue all responded to the accident. Troopers said the accident remains under investigation.
