ANDERSON, IN. - The special prosecutor investigating allegations of sexual misconduct by Martin “Skip” Ockomon filed motions on Monday to dismiss an indictment handed up by a Madison County Grand Jury in late August against the Anderson firefighter.
According to Stuart Hirsch of our partner paper, The Herald Bulletin , Hancock County chief deputy prosecutor Tami Napier, who was assigned to handle the case, notified attorneys of her intentions minutes before Ockomon was scheduled to appear in Madison County Circuit Court 3 for an initial hearing to answer the charges.
Motions to dismiss charges against his former wife, Renee Brewster, and brother, Roger, were also filed.
Napier’s decision marks an end to the legal ordeal, said Ockomon’s attorney, Bryan Williams.
“Skip has adamantly denied these charges from the beginning,” Williams said.
“He was crying tears of joy.
He was thrilled I could finally say to him it’s over.”
Similar charges were filed last November against “Skip” Ockomon but Napier asked they be dismissed in June.
The newer charges were filed against “Skip” Ockomon in August by the grand jury.
Skip is the brother of former mayor Kris Ockomon.
