LEBANON, Ind. (WISH) - A fatal accident Monday morning clogged southbound Interstate 65 traffic in northern Lebanon.

The ramp from I-65 southbound at the 141 mile marker to Lafayette Avenue was closed for hours, but by about 9 a.m. it had reopened.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department is investigating the fatal single-vehicle accident, which happened at about 4:50 a.m. Monday. Rayyah Andrews, 20, New Jersey, was ejected from the van when it struck the guardrail as it exited the interstate. Andrews had been lying down in the middle seat of the van, unrestrained.

Two other people were taken to Witham Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. Allen Griffin, 19, Chicago, the driver, complained of pain. He was treated at the hospital and released. Vvshona Simmons, 18, Chicago, was treated at the hospital for a minor leg injury and released. Rakeem Rashad, 21, Chicago, was not injured.

Officials said the four were on their way from Chicago to Ohio, to take the women back to their college.

Emergency officials said the van was reportedly cut off in traffic by another car and forced onto the ramp. Officers said if found that driver could face charges.

There is no indication alcohol was involved.
