INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A fundraiser will be held on Friday in Indianapolis in memory of Magnum and Kilo, K-9s with the Anderson Police Department.
Kilo was killed in July while assisting the Pendleton Police Department on a manhunt.
Three weeks later, Magnum was killed tracking down a bank robbery suspect.
Now, an Indianapolis restaurant is raising money to help the Anderson Police Department purchase a new K-9.
“These police officers are out there everyday, and there's so much crime anymore, that I just don't that they get the recognition that I believe they should get from us everyday people who they are out there trying to protect,” organizer Gina LaGrotte said.
Fundraiser information:
Date: Friday, September 21, 2012
Time: 5 - 9 p.m.
Location: The Milano Inn
231 South College Ave., Indianapolis
LaGrotte invited folks to bring their dogs to the restaurant’s outside patio.
Ten percent of food sales will be donated to the Anderson Police Department. LaGrotte said she will also match that amount.
