ANDERSON (Herald-Bulletin) - A company based in Ohio will be opening a facility in Anderson by early next year and is expected to create 325 jobs over a five-year period, according to 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Herald Bulletin .
Governor Mitch Daniels along with Greenville Technology, Incorporated will create their first Indiana facility in Anderson. GTI is one of Honda's largest suppliers of plastic components in North America.
Interim Economic Development Director Greg Winkler spoke about the project during an Anderson Redevelopment Commission meeting Monday.
A 150,000-square-foot plant will be built on 25 acres at the Flagship Enterprise Park, Winkler said. GTI will invest $21.5 million in the project.
Construction will begin later this month. GTI hopes to begin production in January 2013 and produce 500, 000 finished goods by the end of that year.
The creation of this plant will have a big benefit for Hoosiers as well. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Greenville Technology, Inc. up to $1,725,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives.
