KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) - Indiana University says the chancellor of its Kokomo regional campus has resigned effective immediately.

IU said Wednesday that Chancellor Michael Harris indicated he was proud of his accomplishments at the Kokomo campus but felt that the time had come for him to seek new challenges at another institution. No other reason for his departure was given.

IU President Michael McRobbie thanked Harris for his service.

Harris became chancellor at Kokomo on July 1, 2010. Before that he was provost and vice president of academic affairs at Kettering University in Flint, Mich.

IU says Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Sue Sciame-Giesecke has been named to serve as interim chancellor until a permanent replacement is named.
