WINCHESTER, Ind. (WISH) - An investigation is under way after a Randolph County Jail inmate was found dead early Thursday morning, Indiana State Police officials say.
Jail staff found 21-year-old Christopher White, of Redkey, unresponsive in his one-man cell around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. He was taking to a hospital in Winchester, where he was pronounced dead.
White had been in jail since April 8 on a warrant for battery on a dependent, a Class D felony. He was awaiting trial.
Preliminary investigating suggests White committed suicide. An autopsy was planned for Thursday to determine his exact cause of death.
