MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - A three day SWAT competition wrapped up in Muncie Saturday and the Indiana State Police took home first and second place.
The competition included 17 teams that came from around Indiana. Two teams were from Illinois.
The Indiana State Police Emergency Response Section North Squad finished in first place, and the Central Squad finished in second, according to a release.
The competition included events involving marksmanship, physical agility and endurance in both individual and team sections. Indiana State Troopers won the team competition and finished number one in the individual obstacle course, pistol competition and sniper competition.
Emergency Response Section Lieutenant Mark French said, "The greatest benefit from the competition is the opportunity to interact with other tactical teams from throughout the state. This familiarity pays dividends when it is necessary to come together in a mutual aid situation."
French also said, "In addition, we benefit from the competitive environment that allows us to check and or adjust our training standards."
