KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) - An influx of students from Saudi Arabia is helping Indiana University increase diversity on its Kokomo campus.
IU Kokomo now has 15 students from the Middle Eastern nation, one of four countries represented on campus. Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Kathy Parkison tells the Kokomo Tribune students from India, Korea and Nigeria also are enrolled.
Parkison says the university has made drawing more international students and increasing the number of students studying abroad priorities as part of a strategic plan to prepare students to live and work in a global economy. The plan calls for eventually bringing more than 55 international students to campus.
MBA program director Gloria Preece says such cultural exchanges are invaluable for students.
