KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - A local doctor faces multiple felony drug charges as the result of an investigation into fraudulent prescriptions by the Howard County Sheriff Department.

Carolyn W. Greer turned herself into the Howard County Jail Tuesday after learning a warrant had been issued for her arrest.

Greer became the focus of the investigation when a pharmacy called the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency concerning fraudulent prescriptions. State Pharmacy Inspector Tim Thomas referred the case to the Howard County Sheriff Department.

During the course of the investigation, deputies interviewed several of witnesses, obtained pharmacy and hospital records and executed a search warrant on Greer’s home.

Deputies seized a small quantity of schedule III drugs they suspect she obtained illegally at her home.

“Greer would telephone in prescriptions using the names of coworkers, friends, family, and patients, and then have the drugs delivered to her,” said Detective Matt Roberson. “Greer was cooperative during the investigation, and she agreed to surrender herself once the charges were filed and a warrant was issued,” the Detective added.

Sheriff Marty Talbert was unable to confirm is Greer was still employed locally, saying, “I am not in a position to comment on Greer’s status as a physician, or her connection with or to any local health care facility,” said Sheriff Marty Talbert.
