Lafayette Police: Man shot near church

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Police have confirmed a man was shot in the leg near an apartment at 501 South 16th Street in Lafayette.

Police said the call came in just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said the man has been taken to an area hospital, and is expected to recover.

According to police, the apartment complex where the shooting occurred is next to a church. Police said at the time of the shooting, a mass was taking place inside the church. According to police, nobody inside the church heard the gunshots.

Police continue to conduct interviews.
