1 seriously injured when car hits tree

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A single-vehicle accident in Madison County seriously injured one man early Saturday morning.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department says 35-year-old Chad Bowman was driving on SR 37 near CR 1700 North when he crossed the center line and hit a tree.

Bowman was trapped in the vehicle for some time before crews arrived on scene. He suffered head and internal injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Hospital in Elwood. He was later airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Bowman's condition is not yet known. Officers are still investigating the cause of this accident.
