Missing woman's family offers reward

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - The family of a woman who went missing last year and is believed dead is offering a $5,000 reward leading to the discovery of her remains, 24-Hour News 8 news partner the Kokomo Tribune reports .

Kelly Armstrong’s family reported her missing in September 2011, but investigators believe she died around July 8, 2011. Her boyfriend, Travis Funke, 34, stands charged with murder, despite the fact that her body has never been found.

According to court documents, Funke told investigators he killed Armstrong after a days-long argument over prescription pills. He said he put her body in a trash bin, but searches of a landfill in Wabash turned up nothing .

The Howard County prosecutor offered a plea deal to Funke in June, but pressure from the Armstrong family led to the withdrawal of that offer in August.

Armstrong’s family has been frequently critical of the police and the prosecutor’s office in the handling of the case.
