ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - Wednesday evening, investigators filed numerous charges against, Darla DeBord, 45, for her involvement in Monday’s crash that killed Marilyn Hirsch , 64, of Anderson.

DeBord was charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting gin serious bodily injury.

Monday evening, Hirsh was killed while driving her Chevy Cavalier after driving into the path of a Ford pickup truck driven by DeBord. It happened near Cross Street and Scatterfield Road.

Originally, police were told DeBord’s brother, Bradley DeBord, 45, was driving the truck as she fled the scene. The son DeBord and the mother, 71-year-old Martha Hanshew, initially told officers he was the driver of the truck.

The woman, DeBord, was picked up Wednesday from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She may have been visiting her daughter who was injured in the accident.

"I hope this sends a resounding message," said Chief Darron Sparks. "We have both a legal and morale responsibility to answer for our actions," he continued. "We will continue to work in union with the prosecutor's office to bring criminal charges against those who deliberately misled the investigation."

DeBord’s brother most likely will face criminal charges of assisting a criminal, while Hanshew will likely answer to a misdemeanor charge of false informing.

The investigation into the accident continues, and additional charges are possible.
