ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - Officers from the Anderson and Pendleton police departments were recognized on Sunday for their actions in two incidents last year.

Pendleton Police officers who responded to an incident on July 26 that killed an innocent civilian and K-9 officer and injured a woman and police officer were recognized at Sunday’s ceremony at the Grace Baptist Church.

The gunman, Kenneth James Bailey, opened fire on July 26, killing an innocent bystander, shooting and injuring his ex-wife, and seriously wounding an officer.

An officer shot back at Bailey, temporarily ending his shooting, before he turned the gun on himself.

Officers administered first aid to the injured officer, Marty Dulworth, and transported him to the hospital, saving his life.

All officers involved in the incident were commended for their actions.

On Aug. 18, an Anderson Police officer and his K9, Magnum, responded to a bank robbery where a suspect held a handgun on bank employees.

The suspect fled.

K9 Magnum was able to track the suspect to a wooded area, where the suspect opened fire on him. Magnum died two days later from those gunshot wounds.

Police say that the officer, Matt Jarrett, and Magnum ran toward the threat to protect citizens of the city.

Officer Matt Jarrett, Sergeant Dallas "Shane" Isaacs (wounded), Officer Samuel Quiroga, Officer Marty Dulworth (wounded), Officer Shaun Williams (wounded), Officer Matt Guthrie and Officer Joe Garrett were all recognized Sunday.
