PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) - Interstate 69 was closed in both directions just north of Pendleton on Wednesday morning due to a fatal crash involving hazardous materials, emergency officials said. By 7 p.m., all lanes were back open.

The crash around 8:30 a.m. left half the interstate closed until 11 a.m. and the other half reopened around 7 p.m. A semi overturned in the northbound lanes.

Indiana State Police confirmed that the crash involving two semis was fatal. The hazardous chemical involved was some sort of mixing agent used in concrete.
