MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a man who told a Muncie police officer he had locked his keys inside his truck stole the officer's police car.
The Star Press reports 43-year-old Muncie resident Kevin Dale Clark faces preliminary charges of auto theft and possession of stolen property following the incident Saturday morning in a convenience store parking lot.
Muncie police Sgt. Jay Turner says the officer pulled into the parking lot shortly before 9 a.m. and was flagged down by man who told him his keys were locked in his truck. The officer went inside the store for a moment, and when he returned outside the man and his police car both were gone.
The newspaper says Clark was arrested following a brief chase by officers.
