ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - Police in Madison County are looking for a man who battered a woman trying to assist him when he appeared to be stranded off a county road, 24-Hour News 8 news partner the Herald Bulletin reports .
The woman called Madison County Sheriff's Department at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday from her home and said she had been assaulted by a man in the 1600 block of East Madison County Road 400 North, after she had stopped to assist after she saw his truck parked on the side of the road. She told investigators he attacked her without explanation when she got close, then returned to the truck and drove off.
Investigators are seeking the public's assistance to find the suspect, a white male, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The truck was an older black pickup with a white bumper.
