BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Boone County investigators have discovered some of the vehicles in the area of a fatal hit-and-run, and now they hope the public can help them find those responsible for the death.

Anita Wernsing, 78, was walking home from church on Ind. 267 Sunday night when a driver struck her and kept going . She died from her injuries.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has determined two of the three vehicles in the area at the time. They are looking for a dark-colored SUV that was seen turning west onto Boone County Road 700 South right after the crash.

The department has turned vehicle debris over to the Indiana State Police lab for further investigation.

“This case continues to be a top priority for our detectives and crash team investigators,” Boone County Sheriff Ken Campbell said in a news release.

Anyone with information should call the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at 765-482-1412 or email tips@co.boon.in.us.
