Earlier Thursday, Madison County police were searching for the suspect in the vicinity of Grandview Golf Course and Madison Avenue, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner the Herald Bulletin reports.

The search followed a police car chase, where Elwood police fired at least one shot.

The suspect has been identified as Joshua Basey. He has previously faced charges of theft, invasion of privacy, intimidation, battery, resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, rape, sexual misconduct with a minor and invasion of privacy.

All of these charges have been since 2010 and all in Madison County.

The chase began in northern Madison County and continued on foot. A K9 was involved.
