BUNKER HILL, Ind. (WISH) - Miami Correctional Facility staff arrested a woman suspected of trying to smuggle drugs into the facility Tuesday.
31-year-old Kimberly Stone was charged with child endangerment, possession of a narcotic, possession of a controlled substance, and conspiracy to traffic with an offender.
Police say that Stone arrived at the facility with her 18-month-old son and tried to sneak heroin and Suboxone, an opiate, into the facility for an inmate. Authorities discovered four grams of heroin, Suboxone tablets, and Suboxone strips in Stone’s possession.
Stone was transported to the Miami County Jail, and her son was taken by the Department of Child Services Division of Family and Children.
“We have people in place to stop this kind of activity,” Superintendent Mark Sevier said. “Our duty is to maintain safety and security both inside and outside of the prison, and our staff do not take their jobs lightly.”
