SHARPSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A local zoning board will hear presentations from both sides in the debate over a proposed wind farm development in central Indiana.
The Kokomo Tribune reports that Juwi Wind has requested a permit to construct 94 wind turbines at a cost of $300 million in Liberty and Prairie townships in Howard County north of Indianapolis.
A group called Citizens for Responsible Development is trying to halt the project, citing the wind farm's potential effect on property values and health.
The opposition group has hired an attorney who has worked to stop wind farm projects in three other Indiana counties.
The hearing will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Tipton High School.
There will be time for public comment during the hearing.
