WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Purdue University is taking to the web in an effort to increase summer enrollment.

The Journal & Courier reports the university launched a website titled Think Summer last week as part of a larger push to increase use of the West Lafayette campus during May, June and July.

Associate Vice Provost Frank Dooley says Purdue officials plan to push the initiative aggressively. Success could lead to a trimester plan that has been considered for about a year.

Only about 6,000 students enroll in at least one class during the summer.

The Think Summer website offers details on 290 courses offered this summer, financial aid and other options.

The campaign also will include postcards to students and emails to parents encouraging them to discuss the option with their children.
