WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -  Purdue University is assessing the efficiency of the campus' printing services in search of possible cost-savings that could include reorganizing the department.

Purdue's University Printing Services handles everything from photocopying to printing annual reports and certificates. The Journal & Courier reports  Purdue began reviewing the department Feb. 15 and will develop a proposal that could include comparing costs with outside vendors.

Purdue treasure Al Diaz says the review's initial focus is gathering information, followed by assessing what private companies might have to offer.

The campus transportation pool, custodial services, utilities and central machine shop were reviewed in 2010 for potential privatization.

But each review found university employees offered the best quality for the cost as opposed to private companies.
