Report: Police shoot man in Madison Co.

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. (WISH) - State Police are investigating a shooting involving two sheriff's deputies in Madison County.  It happened just after 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in the 700-block of East 6th Street in Alexandria.

Police say officers were serving a warrant on 47-year old Mark Croy. They found him in a wooded area behind a house, holding a sawed- off shotgun.

When Croy refused to drop the weapon, two deputies fired at him. Croy was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  No word on Croy's condition. The deputies were not hurt.

Sheriff Ron Richardson says the officers involved in the shooting are veteran officers and are on administrative leave at this time. The officers names will be released within 48 hours.
