Report: Purdue to announce new president Thursday

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A newspaper is reporting that a former Purdue University president says the school will announce its new president on Thursday.
The Journal & Courier reported Monday that Steven Beering says he has been told by someone with the university when the announcement would take place. He says he does not know who that person is.
Beering served as president of the university for 17 years until retiring in 2000.
Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg told The Associated Press on Monday evening that she could not confirm or deny an announcement would take place Thursday.
France Cordova is retiring next month after leading the school for five years. She turns 65 in August.
