Robbers may have hit in two counties

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) - Officers in two different counties believe the same men may be responsible for two different gas station robberies overnight.

It was around 2:06 a.m. Monday when three men entered the Speedway gas station at 4325 State Road 26 in Lafayette. Officers say one of the men displayed a handgun and the men got away with cash. The clerk wasn’t injured.

About an hour later, Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were called to an attempted robbery at a Circle K gas station in Whitestown. Investigators say the suspects matched the description of the men in the Lafayette robbery.

Lafayette Police Department officials described the suspect with the gun as a heavy-set black man who is about 6-foot and wore a white, zip-up sweatshirt. The two other suspects were black men wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lafayette Police Department at 765-8907-1200 or the tip hotline at 800-782-7463.
