Semi-train crash closes state highway

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WISH) - Ind. 25 is closed on the southwest side of Logansport after a train derailed and hit a semi Monday morning.

There were no major injuries in the crash, which happened at about 9 a.m. Monday, but the road closure is expected to continue for an extended period of time, police said.

Norfolk Southern officials told 24-Hour News 8 sister station WLFI-TV that the rail was bowed in the derailment and would have to be cut and replaced. That's why the road was to remained closed, and was expected to remain so for several hours.

Traffic is being diverted from Ind. 25 at Cass County Road 125 West onto County Road 300 South and U.S. 24/35.
