Teen killed in Boone County crash ID'd

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A Fishers teen was killed in a crash that closed U.S. 421 Friday afternoon in Boone County.

Emergency officials at the scene said Jordan Franklin, 17, Fishers, was southbound on U.S. 421, headed back to Fishers from a church camp in Clinton County was killed when the vehicle he was driving slammed into a pickup truck near Ind. 47. Investigators said he had left the roadway for an unknown reason, overcorrected and hit the other vehicle, which was northbound on the highway.

Family members were following him in another vehicle and came upon the accident.

Jacqueline Jansing, 29, Lebanon, and her 1-year-old in the pickup truck were taken to St. Vincent Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The mother suffered internal and hand injuries, and the infant suffered only bruises from the car seat restraints.

By 5:15 p.m., INDOT listed the roadway as reopened.
