KOKOMO, Ind. (WLFI) - It’s a story of true and lasting love – all the way to the end. A former Howard County state representative and his wife of more than 63 years passed away within moments of each other last week.
Earle and Lou Nell Howard died Friday. Family members say the couple's health failed.
The couple's nephew said the couple had been praying that their deaths would occur close together so they wouldn't have to live apart after their 63.5 years of marriage. Their nephew added the family is sad about their passing, but happy they went together.
Earle served as Kokomo Police Chief (1950-1973) and Howard County Sheriff (1975-1986). He also served as state representative from 1986 until 1994.
A viewing is taking place from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home in Kokomo, Ind.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of The Nazarene in Kokomo.
