ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - The Anderson Police Department was involved in a shooting early Saturday morning, officials say.
Anderson officials say the incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning. Officers were conducting an investigation in an Anderson home looking for a suspect involved in a separate incident of burglary and domestic battery.
While conducting the search, police say they noticed a smell associated with manufacturing methamphetamine.
Officials say the suspect fled from the scene in a 1997 Chevy Cavalier, driving through the garage door of the home and knocking an officer to the ground.
Officials say the officer then shot the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Dustin Anderson, defending himself.
Anderson was transported to Saint Vincent's Regional Health Center via medical helicopter. He is now in stable condition.
Officers found precursors associated with manufacturing methamphetamine inside of the garage. Police took 31-year-old Krista Stansberry into custody. She was with Anderson when he tried to flee from police.
She has been preliminarily charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and taken to the Madison County Jail.
Anderson was arrested and faces preliminary charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and criminal recklessness, a Class C felony.
Once released from the hospital he will be taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
The case is under investigation. Police say more arrests and charges are possible.
