KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - Blake A. Taylor is described by his peers and former teachers as a hard worker and a great role model.

The Northwestern High School graduate just completed his fall semester of his freshman year at Ball State University.

On Sunday night, the  business administration major was heading back to Ball State after spending the weekend at home.

Grant County Sheriff Office says 19-year-old was traveling on State Road 26 when he hydroplaned along the flooded stretch. The car flipped in a ditch filled with five feet of water. Officials believe Taylor was in the water for 10-12 minutes.

Taylor was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

In high school, Taylor played on the baseball team as an outfielder. His coach called Taylor "the model baseball player."

Coach Mike Brazel got the call about his former player's death Monday morning.

"I was coming to school I heard in a text message I was shocked it sent me back a little bit," said Mike Brazel, Taylor's former baseball coach.
