Teen arrested for assaulting police

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - Kokomo Police were dispatched to the 800 block of West Virginia Street in Kokomo in reference to a person causing a disturbance.

When police arrived, they attempted to detain 19-year-old Kyle Safford. However, the teen became aggressive and violent with the officers.

One officer suffered an injury to his right leg during the altercation. He was taken by ambulance to Community Howard Regional Health where he was treated and later released.

Safford was also transported to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. He was later taken to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center for charges of resisting law enforcement and battery on a police officer.

The Kokomo Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact them at 765-456-7017.
