PERU, Ind. (WISH) - Two Kokomo residents were critically injured in a car-motorcycle crash on U.S. 31 in Peru.

Officers from the Indiana State Police and the Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash on U.S. 31 at Airport Road at about 3:45 p.m. Monday. A 2002 Chrysler Sebring, driven by Diamond A. Walker, 22 Peru, was westbound on Airport Road when the car was struck in the front drivers’ side by a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Paul Schipper, 63, Kokomo.

Schipper and his passenger, Diane Schipper, were thrown from the motorcycle, and landed head first on the pavement. Paul Schipper was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The Schippers were both flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, suffering massive head and internal injuries.
