GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - The Indiana State Police say two people are dead after an accident near Upland Friday night.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at SR 22 and at SR 5 in the Upland area.
When police arrived on scene, they determined a white 1996 Ford F250 driven by Corey A. Rumple was driving westbound on SR 22 when he struck a grey 2009 Nissan driven by Ronald D. Johnson. Johnson had to slow down to avoid a vehicle turning in front of him when Rumple drove into the westbound lane and struck a 2011 Buick Lucerne driven by Walter E. Young. He was driving with his wife, Nancy J. Young.
Young and his wife were killed on impact. Rumple was transported to Marion General Hospital by ambulance for complaints of head, neck and abdominal pain.
Johnson was unharmed.
This crash remains under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this accident.
