Two men suspected in 20+ robberies

Two Marion, Ind. men who police believe are responsible for at least 20 robberies across Central Indiana are now in police custody following a Wednesday evening robbery in Kokomo, Ind.

Shawn Lee Keesling, 43, and James Voyles, 19, were apprehended by police dogs after bailing out of their wrecked getaway car.

Police say about an hour earlier, Keesling went into the Gold Fever store in the 1000 block of South Apperson Way in Kokomo with a gun and demanded money and merchandise.

The suspects were spotted by Hamilton County investigators who where on their way to speak with Kokomo detectives about the robbery’s similarities to other robberies in the area.

The two men tried to elude police but ended up smashing their car into a tree in the parking lot of Whiskey Creek restaurant.

Police arrested Keesling on charges of Armed Robbery, a class B felony, and Resisting Law Enforcement a class A misdemeanor. Voyles is charged with Aiding, Inducing or Causing Armed Robbery a class B felony, and two counts of Resisting Law Enforcement. Keesling was treated for minor injuries at St. Joseph Hospital and released.

Both men are suspected in at least 20 additional robberies that have occurred over the past several months in Kokomo, Indianapolis, Anderson, Elwood, Arcadia, Fishers, Muncie and Marion.
