MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - Employees of a Muncie tanning salon found a woman dead in a booth Wednesday morning.

Police say no foul play is suspected and it appears the woman died of natural causes.

Officers were called to Island Tan, in the 700 block of South Tillotson Avenue, around 9:15 a.m.

Investigators said the 62-year-old woman arrived at the tanning salon shortly after 8:33 a.m., and was in an operating tanning booth for about 20 minutes.

When the woman hadn't emerged from the booth about 10 minutes after the tanning session had ended, an employee entered and found her unresponsive, police said.

She was taken by ambulance to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A formal cause of death won’t be declared until laboratory tests are completed.
